THANK YOU

On 13 December, we hosted a special celebration for the children and families at Ronald McDonald Family Room at Gosford Hospital: A Very Epico Christmas!

The Ronald McDonald Family Room at Gosford Hospital provides a haven of comfort and care for families with a child receiving treatment. Just steps away from the children’s ward, the Family Room offers a peaceful space to rest, refresh and reconnect during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Through everyone’s generosity,

  • We had 58 guests
  • 45 Epico volunteers
  • The gift fund was given an estimated 600 toys PLUS $5,375 (all of which was spent on gifts for the children, siblings, parents and RMR team)
  • IN FACT, because so much was given, we are now able to give gifts to children in the hospital ward next week AND food vouchers for the RMR room to continue buying food for months to come!

The Ronald McDonald Family Room at Gosford Hospital provides a haven of comfort and care for families with a child receiving treatment. Just steps away from the children’s ward, the Family Room offers a peaceful space to rest, refresh and reconnect during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Open since 2013, the Gosford Family Room has welcomed more than 56,000 visitors, providing over 9,650 family visits each year. Inside, parents and carers can access kitchen and laundry facilities, showers, a comfortable lounge, and a dedicated play area for siblings — all completely free of charge.

The service helps ease both emotional and financial stress, saving families an estimated $37 a day in out-of-pocket costs such as meals, parking and travel. But its impact is far greater than dollars and cents — it’s about presence, compassion and the reassurance that families are not alone.

As one local mother, Rachelle, shared:
“Rocco has spent a lot of time in the hospital; it has been a huge support having the Family Room.”

Operated by Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW, the Family Room is powered by the generosity of volunteers and donors who help keep families close when it matters most.
